We all naturally want to get the most out of various components in our homes’ HVAC systems, and there are few better examples here than the furnace that heats your home throughout the Utah winter. For both financial and practical reasons, maximizing furnace lifespan is a key priority for many home and building owners – and there are several simple ways to go about this.
At All Pro Appliance Service, we’re proud to offer a wide range of appliance repair services to clients around Salt Lake City and nearby areas, including furnace repair and furnace tune up solutions to keep your home or building warm all winter long. In this two-part blog series, we’ll go over a number of simple tips for extending furnace lifespan, whether on your own or with the help of of our HVAC professionals wherever needed.
Seasonal Maintenance
One of the single most important factors in extending furnace lifespan is the completion of annual seasonal maintenance tasks. On average, furnaces will last between 15 and 20 years when properly maintained – but without this maintenance, you may see your furnace’s lifespan drop to just 10 or even fewer years.
To avoid this risk, be sure to call our professionals each fall before the heating season for a comprehensive furnace tune-up service. We’ll check all areas of the furnace, from filters and vents to heat exchangers, blower motors and many others, plus make any minor adjustments or repairs that are needed to keep your system running optimally through the winter.
Air Filters
Another major factor in furnace lifespan is air filters, which are responsible for trapping dust and other contaminants that could otherwise enter your system. These filters prevent dirt buildup on important components like the blower and heat exchanger, ensuring these parts work normally without being subjected to excess stress.
For this reason, changing your air filter regularly – about once every three months, or more often for particularly dusty locations – is highly recommended. You can easily do this on your own, but if you’re unsure how to locate or change the filter, simply give our team a call and we’ll be happy to help.
Immediate Repairs
If any minor issues do arise with your furnace, it’s vital to address them immediately rather than waiting for a major breakdown. This is because smaller repairs will generally be much more affordable and easier to manage, plus they’ll prevent larger problems from developing that could create major expenses or even require full furnace replacement well before schedule.
At All Pro Appliance Service, we offer professionals who are happy to assist with any repairs necessary to extend furnace lifespan. In part two of our series, we’ll go over a few more tips for making your furnace last as long as possible. But in the interim, remember that our pros are here to assist with any and all HVAC maintenance needs you may have – today to learn more about any of our services or schedule an appointment.
