There are several home appliances where leaks are never a desirable outcome, and one great example here is the freezer. There could be a few things causing a leak coming from your freezer, and getting to the bottom of it will help you remedy the situation quickly and affordably.

At All Pro Appliance Services, we’re here to help. We offer a huge range of appliance repair services to clients around Salt Lake City, including freezer repair for any issue taking place. Here are some of the possible culprits in a leaking freezer, plus what can be done about them on your own or with the help of our professionals wherever necessary.

Poor Food Arrangement

It may surprise you, but there are actually some cases where a leaking situation can be caused by the way that food has been arranged in the freezer. If it’s blocking any of the drains, then condensation may start to build up and eventually cause leaks.

Luckily, this is one of those issues that requires no professional repair or even any costs. Simply rearranging the food items in the freezer so that nothing is blocking any of the drainage points will usually be enough to fix the problem.

Drain Pan Crack

From a repair standpoint, one of the most common causes of a leak in your freezer will be a crack in the drain pan. This can happen if the freeze has been bumped or jostled around too much, and it’s certainly possible to fix this yourself. However, it is recommended that you consult with professionals at All Pro Appliance Services before attempting anything on your own.

By having our technicians take a look at the situation and diagnose it for you, we can make sure that any repair work that’s needed is done properly and safely. Not only will this help to extend the life of your freezer, but it will also ensure that no further problems arise from the repair process itself.

Drain Hole Congestion

Another common issue with freezers that can lead to a leak is a clogged drain hole. This can occur if food particles, ice chips and other debris manage to make their way into the drainage system of the freezer. To remedy this situation, you’ll want to unplug your freezer and then remove any items located in its interior.

Using a cloth or paper towel, you can then wipe down and clean the inside of the freezer before unclogging any drainage points with a vacuum cleaner. This should be enough to solve the problem in most cases, but if not then it might be time to get in touch with All Pro Appliance Services for their expert help.

In part two of our series, we’ll be exploring some of the other potential culprits in a leaking freezer, as well as what can be done in those situations. In the meantime though, if you think that your freezer is leaking due to one of these issues, then don’t hesitate to reach out and contact our team at All Pro Appliance Service right away.
